    We have been searching CL looking for a John boat to use on small rivers and as a winter beater. 14-16 foot max, on a trailer with a motor.

    I’m with Jon on the 16’and at least 48″ wide bottom. My last boat was a 1648 and my current is a 1652. The 48 worked just fine but it would lean good if both guys were on the same side with a fish. I can’t say even with big sturgeon or muskies coming over the side I have noticed a issue in my 1652.
