The Mahtomedi Beach access on White Bear Lake has been shut down due to multiple cars going through the ice near the launch. There is a large ice heave that numerous vehicles have gotten stuck trying to get over it and multiple vehicles that have gone through the ice near the heave. I personally saw one about ten minutes after it happened as I was walking off the lake and the guy had two very young kids in the car with him. I made sure they were all ok and asked if they needed anything but they were ok thank god. Just a word to the wise the ice on that side of the lake can be very unpredictable even midwinter.
