What's a big bluegill to you?

Can anyone remember the thread where we went over why it is so important to let the big ones go? I wanted to link it to this one but can’t find it.

9.5” is looking good and 10”+ is big to me.

10″ + for me and I’m one happy guy!

Beauty is in the eye of the gill-holder. grin

There were actually several but these two might be more specific to your recollection…I think?

There’s a lot of reading to scroll through, but it’s all about the learning process. wink

And to add personal experience, we used to vacation on a lake near Bemidji that happened to put out numbers of big bluegills…why? I have no idea. When we fished there it was a limit of 10. Now the daily bag limit is 5…thankfully.

Good to protect the very few lakes that can put out 8-10″ bluegills consistently.

I’ll clean 9” gills but I really wish that they’d change it to a 9” minimum. I really like to filet the bulls – 10”+ gills.
