    when I was at Cabelas a few weeks ago, I saw a reel that I still cannot believe nor understand .. and that’s with 40 plus years of the tackle industry.. this was a bait casting reel.. with a long stem and it basically attached like a spinning reel.. some one explain this reel to me.. what is it called and what do you use it for.. I am completely confused and ready to learn something new..

    Sounds like the 13 Fishing Black Betty reel. Just a reel used by ice fishermen to reduce line twist.

    yep.. that’s it.. how do you use it? how do you control it.. you can’t thumb it, can you? I completely never saw anything like it.. I am truly listening..

    We probably haven’t seen them used because at $90 a pop that’s one heck of a pricy panfish reel. I’d like to be one of the first to try it… when prices drop to less than half that.

    It “works” just like an inline ice reel,like a fly reel,it has a multiplier gear box and the longer stem…otherwise it’s just a fancy fly reel…
