    For Immediate Release

Gander Mountain Grand National Walleye Cup Moves Ohio Region’s Lake Erie
tournament to Cranberry Creek Marina Near Huron, Ohio

    By Steve Weisman
    Gander Mountain GNWC Publicity Director
Hopefully, the second time will be the charm for the Ohio Region’s Lake
Erie tournament on the Gander Mountain Grand National Walleye Cup circuit.
Originally scheduled at Port Clinton on May 2, it is now scheduled for
Saturday, May 15 at Cranberry Creek Marina near Huron, Ohio.
According to Gander Mountain GNWC Executive Director Bernie Barringer,
Sunday, May 16 has been established as the alternate date in case of bad
    weather.
Barringer noted, “The potential is there for our teams to bring
tremendous weights to the scales. Weather, of course, can play a major
factor, but I look forward to seeing what these teams will do on a
tremendous walleye fishery like Lake Erie.”
It will still be post-spawn time, so a good stable weather pattern means
the potential is there for lots of big fish.
Going into this third tournament, the team of Mike Defibaugh and Tom
Defibaugh from Bellefontaine hold the lead for the Ohio Region Team of the
    Year honors.
Openings still exist for the Lake Erie qualifier and Barringer
encourages interested anglers to contact him at 1-800-890-FISH (3474), or
email the GNWC at [email protected].
The tournament director will have the trailer at Cranberry Creek Marina
from 6-8 p.m. the evening before the tournament to take late entries and
    answer questions.
Teams are to meet at Cranberry Creek Marina the morning of the
tournament for registration and mandatory boat check.
    Take-off is at 7 a.m. with the weigh-in commencing at 3 p.m. sharp.
“Even though we had to make this change, we hope that a lot of people will
turn out for the weigh-in so they can see what has been caught and to hear
what presentations worked to catch the fish.”
Title Sponsor for the GNWC is Gander Mountain. Other major national
sponsors include Skeeter Boats, Yamaha Outboards, the Sportsman Channel,
Berkley, Aqua Innovations, YoNet Folding Nets by AMFYOYO, VIB”E” Lure
Company, TowTector Shield and UpNorthOutdoors.com. The Ohio Regional Skeeter
Boats sponsor is Boat Boys out of Newark, OH.
