WILKENS AND WILKENS JIG WAY TO VICTORY IN WWA COMBINED BIG STONE ENVENT

Ortonville – Dusty Wilkens and Wes Wilkens won the first of two back-to-back

one-day World Walleye Association Team Challenge events held on Big Stone

Lake on the South Dakota-Minnesota border May 1 2004. This event was a

combined event with both the South Dakota and Minnesota Team Challenge teams

    competing at the same location.

Dusty and Wes Wilkens were pitching jigs to shallow rocks on the Minnesota

side of the lake to catch their winning weight of 11.03-pounds.

Dusty and Wes said they had twelve weigh fish during the day but went to the

far North end of the lake to do a little trolling and caught the second

biggest fish of the day to help their total weight. The Wilkens fish the

    South Dakota Team Challenge.

John Swanston and Shawn Proudlock placed second with a weight of

9.24-pounds. They were fishing the far North end of the lake and also caught

the big fish of the day weighing 4.30-pounds. Swanston and Proudlock fish

the South Dakota Team Challenge Division.

Jim Hartman and Brandon Fink placed third with a weight of 9.05-pounds.

Hartman and Fink were jigging rocks near where the winners were. Hartman and

Fink are also from the South Dakota Team Challenge Division.

    Subscriptions to the Badger
