Lake Pepin, Friday, May 31, with my dad

I want to take my dad from Iowa out on Lake Pepin and the lower stretches of the river by the Colville put-in this upcoming Friday. I am taking the day off and he is semi-retired.

Is the bad weather this week going to have a huge effect on my plans? I expect the water to be up, but it should not kill a trolling bite too much on the lake, right? Are there better stretches of clear water when we get pounded with storms? Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

I was out this past Saturday. All boats except for one were fishing the river where it enters Pepin just south of the launch. We fished main lake points and rip rap shorelines on the WI side tight to shore trolling cranks and did well. Craw colored cranks around 2mph. Waves were large crossing the lake, which I am sure kept many away.

    Good Luck

Check out Pool 4 – Pepin Report. There’s a growing bite going on down there with some wind. Fish the wind-blasted shores and you’ll do well!

    Good luck,

    Joel
