I’ve got one vacation day left to burn between now and December 21. I’d like to use it to chase some pheasants. I’m willing to go by myself, but I don’t have a bird dog, and I’d like to up my odds if possible. Please PM me if anyone is looking for a partner on a weekday hunt.

Are you looking to stay close to home?

Depending on where you go I’m also off the 19th. My lab is more of a waterfowler, But she isn’t affraid of the thickest cattail sloughs and has a lot of drive.

Close = looking to make a day trip out of it

I’m not opposed to driving a couple hours.

I’m intrigued. That would likely work for me. I’ll let it simmer for a couple days and get back to you.

I’m thinking down around the Morris /Benson Area also. Will have some private land out in Alberta if there are any birds there.

    You were never invited.

OK, just kidding! It’d be fun to get a few of us together. I’m hoping it works out.

That’s probably a good practice on your part. You might get left in the field.

I dont have much incentive to go back. We didnt see many birds this weekend and we had access to some impressive private land. With fresh snow we learned a lot about the pheasants there quickly. As you can imagint he drive home yesterday took almost twice as long as drive out.

Is this snow going to mess things up, or should we set something up for the 19th? I will need to request my day off soon…

But it’s horrible if you plan on traveling a couple hours to hunt!

    Better luck next time, fellas.

That is the price you pay.

I have traveled in many storms and had some of the most fun successful hunts ever.

In winter a storm is a good thing, the birds hear the sounds of a storm.

On a calm winter day sound travels for miles and they are gone before you know it.

Weather = Advantage in any hunt.
