Upcoming DL Trip Questions

I live in CO. Dad and I will be fishing DL for the first time 6/25 to 7/1. I will be towing my rig and have a couple of general questions about the area. We’re staying at West Bay Resort and plan on trailering to various launches depending on wind, bite etc. Is the ND G&F website accurate and updated regularly regarding boat ramp status for the various ramps around the basin? For those “blow days” is there opportunity to launch at other basin lakes like Dry, Irvine, Alice etc.? I assume these other basin lakes may be easier to fish during these “blow days” versus being on DL or Pelican themselves assuming it’s possible to launch on these other bodies of water. Any general insights are appreciated as well.

I was up there a few weeks ago and some information I can share is the following. The lake is down about 4′ right now and from the sounds of things, the access on Pelican is not going to be open at all this year. With all the different access points on the lake, you should be able to play the wind to a point but chances are you will be dealing with it no matter where you are on the lake.

Don’t overlook shore fishing as an option, this can be good the entire summer, and can’t keep you from getting beat up bad on an extremely windy day.

Woodland Resort or Perch Eyes Guide Service are a couple good options for seeing how the bite is going.

IF you get strong south winds Graham’s or the casino are options. Your resort has one of the closest ramps to Pelican.

Fishing is really in the area you are staying you shouldn’t have to go far to find fish.
