Well today we finally took the Beaver Dam tipups out of storage and had an un-pleasant surprise as the oil/grease dripped out the shaft. I have seen this before, and remember reading about properly storing them after season. We had them in a bucket with the spool facing down. Just wondered if anyone else had the same happen to you?

Left in my warm garage through a summer…. Yup, same result.

It’s good to clean and regrease often, less resiatance felt by fish.
Find a grease that does not harden at sub zero temps is best.

So just re grease them then

Yup. Pretty normal. They got hot and the grease thinned. Just re grease and you are golden

Best to store them horizontally as well in the off season.
