Has everybody else had trouble getting responses this weekend. Around noon today (sunday) I had one responsive gobble and other than that they have been totally ignoring calls. Still it has been great to get out I have seen may turkeys and came close but took too long to aim the bow. Good thing theres still next weekend.

Yes, very “tight lipped”. But with the wind and the rain, I would guess that is to be expected. Got mine on Sat. Two toms and a jake came in. They were all fighting when they came to the decoy, but not a sound. Normally, when the birds see the decoy, they start to make noise. Not this year. This happened last year, when we had the same type of weather.(over opening fishing!) For 3 days, it was windy and raining. The fourth day, the sun was out in the morning, it was warm, and it was calm. That’s when they came out to play!
I always hunt with a buddy in my “double bull” matrix. As of Sat. the screen now has 4 holes in it. 2 from last year, and 2 from Sat. I only score doubles with that thing!! The one I killed Sat. was the biggest I ever shot. 1 7/16″ spurs! 11″ beard. Don’t know the weight. But he must not have been the biggest in the area, cause he was pretty beat up. Fan was in terrible shape! Feathers broken and missing. The one my buddy got was 1 1/16″ with a 12″ beard. His biggest to date. But he has only been at this for 3 years.

Congrats on Your And Your buddy’s turkeys.
Still none for me but I have until the 25th. I had one good shot but he saw me adjusting my aim and ran. If I had be using a gun he would have been mine but I wanted to challenge myself a little more and use my bow. If successful it will be my first animal taken with a bow. Then

That’s cool that you are going after them with a bow. I have been mulling over that option for next year. I do enjoy the challange, (That’s why we turkey hunt in the first place!), and I read that you can go “over the counter” to get a bow permit for the last 2 seasons, so I have been thinking of putting in for an earlier season, and if I don’t get picked, get a bow permit.
Good Luck on the rest of your season. The sunny mornings should help with the gobbling.
