Nope…I have the next week…but I’m sure ready to get going. We’re heading out next Tuesday night. Finding it hard to concentrate at work when the gobblers are only a week away!

The wife is, she got 2 tags. There was a tom with 6 hens in the same spot until last Sat.; now she can’t peg them down. She’s been out every morning and evening looking for them…….hope she spots them soon. It could get REAL ungly around here if the week goes by with no gobblers.

1 down. Was filming for my dad yesterday morning as he connected with a 22lbs 9 1/2 inch beard gobbler at 7:30. Pictures to come. Wish I could say video still to come but the old man got a little trigger happy on me, as I didn’t have the bird in the frame and was trying to get him to wait. Funny none the less.
For anybody hunting, how was the gobbling in your area. Birds were pretty tight lipped around here.

How could he see with that big shinner. Them toms are kind of funny when there all worked up. Seen a field with 4 nice long beards in it, so I stopped to watch them. There must have been a hen out of site cause they were all strutted up. So just to see what would happen, I honked the horn at them. They all gobbled big time, honked again, same reaction. I had some fun with that for about 5 minutes. Hope there wasn’t a hunter sitting at the edge of the woods.

Congrats whitetail! I’m having a hard time concentrating at work knowing I’ll be in the woods in less than a week! My brother and I are going to set up about 75 yards apart with one of us in a blind in the field and the other on the fields edge! Both will be filming so hopefully we can get some decent footage! Maybe even get a double!

Thats funny prieser, the first thing he asked me after the shot was, can you take a picture that won’t show my black eye???? We’ll see how they turn out. We switched up the rest of the day, him running the camera is always interesting to say the least. I got in a bird at 2:00 in the afternoon but made a poor choice on the setup. Too many blow downs prevented a shot, for camera and me, so we could’ve filled on the opener. If I would’ve made a better choice. Those were the only 2 birds we got to within 200 yards of all day. Kind of a wierd day, be back out Sat. morning.

Congrats on your birds! My brother got his bird Friday morning and I came up empty…but you can’t get’em all! Was a good time with my boy though…he enjoyed missing school for 3 days!
