The American Bass Anglers will have a tournament this Sunday June 4th on Pool 18 launching from Oquawka, IL.

This is the 5th tournament of the season, but if you are new to ABA there are still plenty of tournaments in the area to allow you to qualify for our National Championship in october. The ABA tournaments are designed to be a local circuit and you will not need to travel far like you will for regional trails like BASS, BFL, etc. We expect 30 anglers and will do what we can to continue to grow. Our tournaments are draw format and we pair boaters and non-boaters at the ramp. All boaters are guaranteed the use of their boat even if they don’t draw a partner.

    Membership $25/yr

    Entry $55 for most tournaments

    Big Bass pot $10 (optional)

Everything can be paid at the ramp but cash only accepted at the ramp. Late fee of $5 applies at the ramp but waived for those paying membership at the ramp.

Late Registration/Check-in 3:45-4:45am at the ramp.

    Tournament #5 June 4, 2006 Mississippi River Pool 18

The weather was partly cloudy and warm with a light breeze and that water temperature was in upper 70’s and muddy in most areas. The level had fallen 1 to 2 feet over the previous week this as well as they being post spawn made the fish much harder to put in the boat than they had been in the last two tournaments.

Rob Bartholomew, of Fort Madison locked down into pool 19 and ran 45 miles to reach his spot filled with grass and emerging pads to bring in a healthy 12.09lbs limit.

Second place was taken by Joe Cupp also caught all of his fish in pool 19. He caught his fish on a chatterbait, jigs, and a crankbait. His limit of largemouth weighed 11.41lbs.

Dave Knutstrom took 3rd place with 11.01lbs. Dave was part of our release staff today and he snuck away before I got an interview.

Big Bass was claimed by Roger Ward with a 4.33lb largemouth. In addition to cash he will be awarded a $50 gift certificate from Farm King.

Thanks again to the sponsors: Farm King, Strictly Bass Lures, Navionics, Daveport Boat & Marine, Gander Mountain, Lowrance, Airrus Rods, V&M, Angler’s Advantage Insurance, Motorguide, Mercury Marine, Triton Boats, Abu Garcia, Hooah Energy Bars, Rejuvenade, and Secret Weapon.
