2019 St. Croix Walleye opener GTG (get together) has a new home.

Please join us this year in Hudson at the brand new Ziggy’s Street Food and Live Music.
302 Second Street, Hudson, WI – just 1 mile off Interstate 94 in downtown Hudson.

This location is the old Pudge’s on the right hand side as you near downtown Hudson. We have a reserved room upstairs, to the right of the band stage, with four tables to call our own.

    Date: Thursday, May 2, 2019
Time: After work – 8 pm (stay later if you like, I most likely will)
Food will be available for order from Ziggy’s great menu.

And best of all, we’ll finally get to start talking fishing on the St. Croix as it opens two days later for the annual walleye opener. Hopefully this water will go down just enough to let us in but that won’t stop us from having a great time. Last year we had a great turnout but unfortunately that place has closed it’s doors. So we’ll jump the river and call this our new home.

Can’t wait to see all you river rats! Respond to this post with any questions and to RSVP. But if you need to wait until last minute to decide, don’t let that stop you from joining us, I just want to give the place a relative headcount leading up to the day so they are adequately staffed.

Wasn’t Banana Night at Dibbo’s? Tuesday nights if I recall. Drinking age was 18. Life was good. -)

ttt- keep the RSVP’s coming! We’ve got two weeks to get this water back down but if I know this crew, we’ll find some way, some how to get out on the water!

I believe the level at Stillwater (granted we get no more rain) will be under 85′ by opener. She’ll be no wake but at least there will be some landings open.

I don’t watch the gauges on the lower Croix but glanced at the after see this post. All of them from Danbury down to still water are climbing. Not sure how fast it drops down there but hopefully it crest soon and starts falling for you guys.

The Croix backs up from the Miss up stream. Sun/Mon the Miss (should) start dropping and the Croix will follow. Hopefully faster then it went up.

Best of luck for St Croix opener. I’ll be out of town this weekend but will be sure to pester the eyes Monday.

We decided to meet at Dicks Bar at 6:00 am Saturday morning for screw drivers. We are planning to fish from shore (Dike bridge). Big fish wins a full day boat cruise with BK.

I didn’t make it last night. Had a meeting with a mechanic at the camper.

Just wanted to shout out to Brian (you know who you are). Sorry we couldn’t hook up but there were a bunch of great guys there to cover for me!
Send me your email or text number and we’ll have our own get together. )

Good luck on opener everyone. I dont even have my boat out yet but I am not sad. Too damn many hobbies and a cabin will do that to you. I know where to find them in a couple weeks and Ill be ready then. Also I focus on the Mn opener which is next weekend. Looking forward to reading some updates Sat night so please post them.

I am guessing Troy is actually closed, when I drove by every truck had a ticket on it even if they paid.

We got a couple today. Surprised the flow was really slow. Had to us the trolling motor to go south.

Any other reports? I went out yesterday by myself; trolled cranks.

Launched at the Anderson Windows launch in bayport. Was doable for my 18 foot lund explorer even with the high water. Trolled between there and the hudson channel and ended up with 3 bass (one was 20.5”), 1 white bass, 1 sauger, and 8 walleye. All the walleye were 12-14.5” (sigh). Tried fishing a variety of depths but all my success seemed to come from 12-15 feet of water. Not sure what was up with all the smaller walleye; maybe all males?
