    Just from what I’ve heard on here, if these things really run up to 9,000 rpm or whatever it is, won’t that make the motor just as loud as a 2 stroke. I know my motor is louder at 6000 rpm then it is at 3000.

    Now they NEED a tiller handle w/power steering for the
    150hp-200hp SHO and the proper gear ratio to be a good
    tiller motor. There’s nothing wrong with their looks!

    If you check out the Yamaha “Hot Sheet” that James posted last week, you’ll see that the RPMs at WOT are in the 5000-6000 range, and that the HP ratings correspond to 5500 RPM.

    As Jason pointed out, these motors have the same basic RPM range as previous Yamaha motors.
