    Hey guys,

Longtime lurker on this site finally decided to join.

I want to get some short leadcore rods to add to my spread for next year and wondering what you guys would suggest. I looked at the scheels extreme 5 foot. I did some digging in this forum and it seems guys like the limit creek “runt”. If you guys had to pick one which would you prefer.

    Welcome!

I run a pair of the $50 Cabelas combo short leadcore rods without issue. I can tell if a bait is fouled in 20’+ water anywhere from 1.3-3.5mph without issue and have landed a few 6-8# fish on the shorties and hundreds of 4-5# fish without issue. I’m of the belief that spending $100’s on leadcore rods isn’t your best bang for the buck, even more so on the shorties.

If you were shopping for a jigging, dragging, or pitching rod I’d definitely agree with the benefits of higher-end rods.

I to run the Cabelas. Have no problems. Must admit I’ve never ran the really expensive ones, but see no reason too. Lots of times on sale for $20.
