In spring I troll shad raps and work the shorelines. Once I hit pay dirt I switch to jigs and plastic or minnows. The bite drops off I repeat.
Early summer I use rattle traps or deeper running bottom bouncers. Paydirt brings out a lindy rig and minnow or leech.
Midsummer I use the electronics and the midlake reefs heavier jig and minnow or leech and the search is slow due to the method.
Fall is slow deep water search with a 3/8 oz jig and a minnow use of electronics is valuable and reading wind driven current.
What other methods do you folks use to search for active fish?
I know that spring and current are go to places but some of them are so crowded. I like a little space and the thrill of discovering the new hotspot is huge.
