I finally did it! I can now say that I have stuck 100 different species on the inside of the mouth with a hook.

The Giant Gourami will stand as one of the most memorable catches for me not only because it is such a cool fish but because it is a signicant accomplishment in my life. I have been blessed to fish in some very unique places. Sometimes I really miss home in the good ol’ USA especially when I see the great catches you all are having, but sometimes I feel like I am living a dream.

I recently got to meet the “The Great Snakhead Hunter,” Jean Francois Helias. Francois has fished every country over here except Laos so he is coming to fish with me in January. Francois gave me the tip on these Giant Gourami so I owe it to him.

The Paypond I fished was a nice and quiet one and it was teeming with Giant Gourami. After employing the tactics of Francois, it didn’t take long before I was landing good sized fish. I caught about 20 fish and kept 3 of them for the frying pan.

My favorite is the dog eating catfish. The Mekong cat is second.

That’s pretty cool. I know I’ll never get close to 100 different fish. I found it interesting the other day that a lot of the pet stores carry some of these fish for pets.
