My first outing of the season was slow but productive. I caught 5 small bronzebacks. I had decided to fish the Zumbro River between Oxbow and Mantorville. It’s an area where I’ve never had a lot of success, but I was feeling adventuresome. Besides the bass I saw a beaver swimming around, a couple of heron’s out flying around and lots of frogs. Apparently it is time to get Froggy. With all the chirping going on it was definitely froggy date night.

I’ve been wading for about 15 years now and I’m 50. A three hour wade takes more out of me and I think I’m looking at a much slower recovery time.

For those of you who have already done the math, no 5 fish in three hours isn’t much. But for an area that honestly expected to get skunked in, I thought I did alright.

Now to find some supper and my favorite reclinger.
