Side Imaging Transducer placement on Ranger185

just bought a new SI unit, if I want to use it for both the SI function and while on-plane can I mount it just under the jack plate? I don’t have a ton of room on the lower step hull…..

Using SI above about 6mph is not ideal, you wont see much, you need to be under 6mph to be effective.

right… I should have been more clear. Will the transducer work (just for sonar and usual depth info, not necessarily SI) when on-plane if its installed under the jack plate?

It will need to placed like a typical transducer, but yes when placed like that it will work high speed
