crappie question?

have a friend coming back here from washington to catch some crappies,would you try pepin or hit the backwaters around wabasha?havent been there since june..thanks..

With the water up and rolling good, I’d cancel out on Pepin unless you fish the rip-rap where deep water is found right off it. The crappies have been hitting there….the breakwater and pier in Lake City are a couple of spots where the current isn’t such an issue that come to mind.

Backwaters might be breaking the weed dilemna now and with the water up some the fish might be moving into them. I’d definitely stay away from the “public holes” since they get beat to death.
