OMG, It's a Simple Little Fuse….

I have the cigarette type of power supply for my Lowrance GPS when in use on my ATV. The fuse blew and am having a very difficult time locating a new one. The number on the one I pulled out is F6AL250V. It seems to be a real odd ball as NAPA, Radio Shack, AutoZone, Fleet Farm and Fish Lectronics does not have this model.

It’s about an 3/16″ shorter and a titch smaller in diameter than other 6 amp fuses.

Any suggestions on who might have this around town?

Try McMaster Carr. They’ve had every odd ball fuse I’ve looked for.

Can you change the fuse holder? Autozone sells different fuse holders…

If your not on a time crunch, you could order it online. Mcm electronics has a huge variety of them.

Google that part # and you will see Amazon sells them in 6 pack for $1.98

I did find that fuse on Amazon. My challenge is finding one for use tomorrow.

    Thanks for the ideas.

    +1

Or find a 6 amp fuse that’s SHORTER and put something in for a spacer with the fuse until you get what you need. Maybe try a boat dealer too?

If you lived closer to me I would give you one. I had to order them online.

What I’ve done in the past is put a wire in place of the blown fuse and install a new blade fuse holder inline. It takes about 15 min and then you have a common fuse for the future.

I was considering the exact same thing.

    Thanks again for the ideas.

Is this for an H20C? If so I have a power cable you can borrow until you get yours running.

    Thanks for the offer, Steve.

    This is for my LMS-522.

I guess my rant is really more about using an uncommon fuse. Why wouldn’t the engineer use a fuse that can be found at any gas station?

I think of a line I like to use at work quite often:

That would make way too much sense.

    Yeah, might be the case.

Swap the plug to a common fuse one when time allows, it’s worth it long term. Have done it on mine and just redid another one for a friend.

If you use a shorter duse, go to the hardware store and buy a small spring that will make up the difference in length
