Have you ever considered a cooler and ice? Not sure why I responded to this question?
Bleed your fish out in the 5 gal bucket and put them on ice in a cooler. I have a livewell and that’s what I do. Minus the bucket.
In a boat? Why not one of those wire mesh cages. They keep fish lively.
I think their called fish baskets?
Cooler and ice or a cooler and an aerator works too just need to pump in fresh water.
Fish Mille Lacs for walleye… Problem solved.
Beat me to it!
My favorite way to keep fish is in a fish basket. The collapsible wire kind that hang in the water. They work great. Used them all my life. Get one with flotation on the top so it can never sink.
Here’s an example. http://www.amazon.com/South-Bend-Floating-Wire-Basket/dp/B000BQW574
I use a dead well.
Ice and cooler.
Or if it’s cold, just a cooler.
Last two boats I removed the live well. Haven’t missed it one day.
Where do you guys find coolers for 50″ musky? Or do you just cut out the cheeks and throw the rest back?
Best way is to bleed fish and put on ice. I use stringer or fish basket until they are bled out then on ice they go.
Mwal
My live wells are storage areas…. cooler and ice is the only way to go.
My live wells BECAME the cooler and ice. Cold drinks, sandwiches…end of the day, pull the plug and let the ice melt out. Saved room in the boat not having the cooler in there…
Live well, cooler, fish basket, stringer, and not necessarily in that order.
