Getting around to installing a new toilet and some how I broke the old flange. The pipe is 3” so should use a compression flange and worry about leaks or should I bite the bullet and replumb and new flange stack in?

    Replace. Bandaids on plumbing/water= hell.

What is a compression flange? We typically replace the flange. Replace the shut off valve to.

    Replace it.

You should be able to cut and chip the old flange out without damaging the pipe below. Then just install the new flange. Search YouTube and you will find plenty of tutorials.

May not be that easy. Do you have access underneath/basement? You’ll want new Drain pipe, new flange, new supply line(unless fairly new)… replacing underneath Sheetrock, is worth it, replacing flooring above to solve the issue, is a pain but worth it. I’d go from bottom up.

Compression, are the ones with the rubber seal you press in and screw in.

It’s a upstairs toilet and full access to it from below. I have to cut in a bunch of pipes and reroute a few things, but doable.

So maybe I will try start on the chipping process and see what happens from there.
