Been working the river like a madman for the last few days.
Its on the rise after the waves of storms last Fri.
Sat night managed to hook up with a new fishing partner that I met on another Forum. I had 2 runs, lost one in a snag. (the hit came in less than 10 min after bullhead hit the bottom. I Was fishing about a mile below shakopee. It was nice to try some new water.
Last night hit some of the usualy spots. Managed to boat a 5lber and my buddy Gabe who has been fishing cats for almost a year, Finally hooked into his first catfish only to have it tangle in a snag just under the water. It was a little heartbreaking to see the fish thrash around till it freed its self. Oh well. But it was still great to see the confidence level boosted even if it was a little bit, for someone who has netted the majority of my fish.
Time for a tactic change, gonna give the MN river between 35 and Mississippi a break and work some new waters. Holes and snags are few and far between on that strech. I’ll be back after post spawn when the biggerones are feeding in the shallows regularly.
