    Bay De Noc.

Another hot and humid week in the southern U.P. again. Many boaters and anglers alike took to the water in hopes of escaping the heat and latching on to a few walleye). LBdN walleye were very active this week.

Many fish caught were undersize with most of the legal fish in the 15” to 18” range. Black bottom in 10′ to 20′, east of Butler Island in 16′ to 20′ and Breezy point to out past the Ford River in 14′ to 25′. Most anglers trolling or drifting crawlers. Again, all these sites were very active with small fish.

Big Bay de Noc walleye were not quite as active but the fish were much larger. Best trolling crawlers south of Round Island in 20′ to 30′.

Both smallmouth bass and perch catches were down this week in both Bay’s. Salmon catches still steady from Summer Islands and out by the Ford River can. Most anglers out by the can were trolling about 40′ down in 60′. Good luck!

Here is Capt. Ken Lee of SallMar resort with some happy fishermen and a nice stringer of eyes.
