    Cold fronts,storm fronts, enough already

Today I shared my boat with Steve and Justin Cowen from Iron Mountain and their friend John from Alaska. The early AM temp was 48 with ThunderStorms predicted…but with a limited opportunity for John to be here we gave it a try.

The wind was giving us a strong chop as we headed for a deep water hump near Kipling. Using Lindy rigs and 1/2 oz Zone R jigs we drifted the 26′ depths. Something grabbed my jig/Kalin grub combo and really gave me some serious attitude. It was a nice 25″ Walleye. Justin nailed a 14.9″er and Steve and John both had fish on… I was feelin pretty good about our prospects but the wind switched and blew over 25 knots for the rest of the morning and the bite all but disappeared save afew “walters”. After several relocations I managed another 23″er.

We’ll try again tomorrow…We need some warmer stable weather…I believe the fish are there…only one way to find out!
