Heading up to Lake Winnipeg for the first time and read a lot about what lures to bring and what not, but the thing you never see is what size of the different lures people are using. Could you guys let me know what you’ve had success with up there and most importantly what size the lures were? I got a selection of rattle baits already, but needing to pick up some more stuff including a few more rattle baits, but mostly needing spoons and other things of that nature.

The smaller size live target golden shiner. 1/4 to 1/2 oz jigging spoons. #5 & #6 rippin raps, #7 jigging raps, 2″& 2 3/4″ lindy darters, 2″-3″ flutter spoons.

I used the Jackall TN 60 in the Purple Chartreuse the last time I was up there and hammered them on it.

Man, I wish I was going to Winni – bucket list item.

That said, I’ve read on this Forum and seen youtube videos of guys using PK Lures Spoons and Flutterfish Spoons up there with success. I haven’t’ been able to find them at local retailers around here, only online. I’m sure there are other guys here with more specific info on size/color.

    Good luck and report back!

Big spoons. Rj lures salmon spoons. The lightweight 4 1/2 or the 3 1/2. The lake is changing. Rainbow smelt have crashed, walleye pattern is changing.

Thefts have happened too. Make sure your gear is in an enclosed trailer and secured. Hit at both the canalta hotel in Selkirk and south beach casino.

Thanks for the information Cam. I’ve witnessed individuals being pretty trusting of their stuff being safe in the South Beach Casino parking lot. Augers being left in auger racks, rods in rod holders, keys in snowmobiles etc. Figured it was only a matter of time.

I’ll be heading up there on Wednesday for the 4th year. My has live targets, clackin raps, ripping raps, PK spoons, and flying rattle spoons just to name a few. The best producer is consistently the Blue Ghost live target, can’t remember the size but it’s big
