Managed to get out for 2 hours with my daughter tonight trying to get her her first legal walleye. That took all of 5 minutes and she had a 17.5″ fish in the net. We picked up three in 10 minutes, all over 17 inches, and then it died a little bit. We got a few white bass, and then my daughter hooked into a “snag”. I looked at her rod and could see the tell tale thumping of a good walleye shaking its head on the other end. After a good tussle, she brought a beautiful 27.5″ 8.5 pound walleye to the boat. She likes to fish, but she’s not big on holding them yet when they are large fish, so I had to do the hold for the picture. The only camera we had was on the cell phone, so not the best pictures. All in all, we kept 5 for a couple meals. The only thing better than catching a big walleye is watching your kids catch them. All our fish came trolling #5 shad raps in 5 to 7 FOW.
