I’m up here now. Ash River is open but I haven’t been over to Kab. yet.
On the radio this morning they reported Black Bay on Rainy was about open and they thought the lake would go this coming week.
I’ll get over to Kab. this afternoon and report back this evening on what I find.
I see on the Park Point resort cam that it is a long way out from shore and very black. Should be out tonight or tomorrow. Crane lake went out yesterday.
Little to no ice at the Ash Trail visitors center. Open water as far as I can see except for a small bit by the landing. I have heard the main lake is about out also. I’ll head up to the Kab. visitors center tomorrow and get a look there.
Kab. will be good to go by opener.
Levels look descent Dutch? I see at the dam it’s about a foot low from last year but within the curve.
Water is low. But it has been in the past also. Check back with me in a week, we will know more.
Thanks for the photos dutch. Exactly what I needed to see today.
Can’t wait to get up there. We’re heading up Friday.
thanks Dutch, we are heading up Friday too.
Think they’ll be able to get the bouys out before opener?

I would think they would all be out. I’m not sure who handles Kab. if it’s the Park Service, DNR or who. I know Ebels does the Ash River and Sullivans Bay but I don’t know it they go further.
It’s a blue sky morning on the Trail! High in the mid 60’s today.
rain tues/wed that should help levels if it’s any measurable amount of rain.
Side note for you guys coming up. I35 just south of Pine City is down to 2 lanes (single lane each way) again this summer. They are replacing a bridge and they have started already. Traffic is gonna pile up so get a early start and bring your patience.

@Grubson, we better leave earlier than 4am! I mean, Sunrise is at like 5:40 Friday morning and we don’t want to waste any daylight!
I’m getting too old to be playing those games IceNEyes1986.
4am will have to do. Unless you want to drive?
I was shocked, I come up the WI side (hwy 53) to superior/duluth, and this is the first time I can think of there is NO roadworks (at least nothing on Google maps or the DOT site). It’s a miracle.
Sauger are willing this morning. We got 5 to keep for fish fry. No bouys out yet, at least from wooden frog to Petersen bay areas.
-2′ water level offset on the humminbird seems to get me to match what the sonar reads (normally no offset works in springs past).
