Anybody using one of these? Would like some feedback weather the 2hp can handle the big blade. Or if I need to move up to the 2.5hp or 3hp.
Most of our ice fishing will be in IA. Want the bigger auger size because we do some tip-up fishing

I don’t have a Solo, but I’ve got a 10 inch auger on my 2 horse lazer mag express and it cuts great
I think the benefits of the larger HP models really show when you start getting more ice,and if you ever use an extension.
What hp do you recommend Dean? Our ice in IA doesn’t get real thick and I will never have to use a extension here. Plus it is like $100.00 difference between a 2hp to a 2.5hp

I’ve got a 10″ on my auger now. My next auger will be an 8″ bit. 10″ is just overkill. It’s nice, but thermal tip-ups fall into a 10″ hole. Your feet and leg fits into a 10″ hole. I’ve seen a dog and heard of a kid going 1/2 way down a 10″ hole.
Just an FYI
If your going the 10″ way go with a 3hp… I had a 10″ on a 2hp and ran a buddies auger with a 3hp/10″ very noticable difference, same make and model.
I’m glad I went 8″ this time around… Had a 10″ for the last three seasons and an 8″ for the seven seasons prior. Good to be back, thanks to a good talk with Dean.
