Please help us welcome Scott Steil to the moderating crew for this ice fishing forum. Scott is an avid (maybe ravenous is a better word?!) ice angler that targets a number of species through the ice but has one true love when it comes to fishing through the ice… catching MONSTER-SIZED bluegills! How many guys do you know that take extended vacations across the midwest each winter looking to catch huge ‘gills?! His travels take him across MN, into the Dakotas and WI looking for the “next” trophy panfish hot spot. And he’s going to share with us some of his secrets and insights. His addition to the team, which already includes quality and experienced ice anglers like ecnook and Derek Johnston, looks to make this an exciting forum throughout the hard water season!

    Welcome Scott!

I’m sure he’s a little busy with the RCL, but hold on when he gets back!

Yep, was a little busy the last two weeks. Now I have two things on my mind, Mille Lacs Fall walleye and the early Ice season!!!

Ecnook, I heard through the grapevine that you enjoy chasing big gills too-Good to know!! My travels don’t usually take my South but I will have to make a point of it this year. Believe it or not, I spend more time on the ice then I do in a boat. No wonder my knees hurt.LOL

Funny….you guys on pool 4 have it made. I suspect we’ll have ice on pool 7 by Halloween. C’mon down to 7 and I’ll show ya how to catch those green toothy stone carp through the ice! Just give me time to dig out my magical box of jiggin’ raps.

Your right Fleck, we are fortunate enough up this way not to have the river ice over . I think the last time I went ice fishing was over 15yrs ago when I lived in IA. If we don’t get flow in the river here soon you ice guys are gonna have to come to pool 4 and give me a “walleyes thru the ice lesson”.

I think those big white chunks that float past the boat in January are ice. LOL

Lookin forward to reading your reports Scott. Dusty, that Iowa blood in you is beginning to show. Whats ice?-Everyone knows that ice is what you put in your glass of diet pepsi to keep it cold. Thanks, Bill
