Since there is some interest in a Webster SD GTG I will start this to throw out some dates and maybe get the ball rolling a little farther.
I was thinking later in the year like late ice(march?), or early ice(end of december?).

Is this one of the areas guys have been talking about for jumbo perch?

Yes. There was also a show filmed out there.

jerr
A 3 NR is $32….limit 15 per day..30 poss
End of December a no go for me…
March might be interesting..
I think SD has just passed a proposal to increase license fees, so they will be a few bucks more expensive after the new year. Suzuki you can follow me around if you sharpen my knives! I think a March date would be a great time.
My annual is $60, goes through Jan of 2014. So if you get a license in Jan of 2014 it goes through Jan 31 of 15
I will be in for this event. We (my friends and I) will be hitting webster alot this year, just because its soooo much fun to fish there.
Hope you guys have gold….
Where could one look to find the average ice out dates for the area? It looks like March is going to work for me as well, my first choice anyway.
I would be interested in meeting someone out there in Dec just to get a push in the right direction so I don’t have to hire a guide.
No guide needed up there. Just stop in at Sportman’s Cove in Webster for bait before hitting the ice. Doug and crew do a great job of giving you up to date information.
Later march can be pretty sketchy, look for presidents day weekend in february as this is when the late perch bite usually really turns on. You have great ice still and late march some years you wont be getting on anymore. Just 2 cents from a guy that has been fishing the area for awhile. – QB
Thanks QB for the suggestion, so Late February or First weekend in March would be better.
Those dates still work for me.
Just looked out my office window and there are a few flurries flying!
I agree with Quintin, end of Feb. very early March is a good time. My cousin was out there either last year or the year before in the later part of March and could not get on some lakes. I think it was 2 years ago this coming spring.
