We had a piebald doe up at our deer camp. Everyone in the area saw it and there was a group understanding that we’d let this doe live out her life. We saw her from time to time over the next 8 years. No sign of her for the last two. She grew into an absolute giant. Many estimated that she was well over 200 lbs. on the hoof.
I would too but I wouldnt then say the following to the local newspaper. “It was absolutely gorgeous. And I wondered whether I should just let it live”
It’s a genetic flaw, not an endangered species. I say take it.
Cool looking deer, though
I’d have to agree. I have a number of hides draped over furniture and railings in my house. A piebald hide like that would make an awesome addition. Possibly even a full body mount. That is a rare trophy indeed.
