I’m considering dumping my Interlink system (which works great) to go to an Ethernet link. I understand that the Ethernet is faster and updates GPS more quickly. Is this the case? Maybe I shouldn’t bother? Thoughts?

The new units have such a fast processor that the interlink has a hard time keeping up with sharing the info.

The ethernet is much much faster, easier to install, and allows you to share info such as, which transducer you want to use, SI or DI if both units are capable of it and it will also share a gps puck.

It doesnt work on all units though. The 800, 900 and 1100 units must have the round plug in on the back and any of the 700 series units must be HD units. That is the only draw back.

I have an 1197 and a 958. The 1197 is updated to accept Ethernet. The interlink seems to work fine, though I don’t like having to tell it to connect to the Interlink every time I power up. Maybe since I don’t need to choose a transducer it’s not a necessary upgrade?
