GPS puck placement – Impact

An Impact is rolling through the factory destined for my garage early next month. The impact has a narrow gunwale and no place to mount the puck above the transducers. Planning to use my old Humminbird 998c for a couple more years and I don’t see a way to offset the puck location in that unit.

Question is, have others figured out a solution to keep their puck above the ducer?

I thought about using a downrigger (or other?) SportTrak bracket, mounting the puck to that, then stowing it when trailering with the cover. Seems like a viable solution, but wonder if there would be any issue when actually mounting a downrigger to the back, or longevity of the puck wires if it’s moved too often.

    Many thanks for suggestions.

If you plan on mounting the xducer on the starboard side I would mount your puck on the flat carpeted area next to the ladder.
