Heading up to Vermillion for the weekend and was hoping to catch a few smallies. Really have only fished the lake in the spring time. Should I just look for the prespawn type areas? And should I focus on the Eastern or Western basin for really big smallies? Just some general patterns or ideas would help alot.

the last few years the MN pro/am out of the casino, restocked the east end with alot of largemouth and smallies. when I was up there last week, a few I talked to thought the smallies were enroute from the shallower shoreline areas to mid lake reefs. see my recent post. on my club trip last weekend we got no big smallies just small to medium sizes. don’t forget you camera, and hope you write back on your return, good luck.
