Preserving bee hives!

I just cut down a hugh bee hive! Is there anyway to perserve it? Spray Lacquer on it? I know something like this was posted earlier this year, but couldn’t find it.

I have a few and have sprayed it with hair spray from aresol can. Still look great after alot of years. Just make sure there are none of the bees left in the hive when yo bring it in the house!!!!!!!!!!!!
