First time out with brand new boat and motor. Tiller model.

Key won’t shut off motor. Can remove the key and it doesn’t stop. Pulled the kill switch and it doesn’t stop.

    Any suggestions?

Not trying to be a smart a$$, but I assume it’s not running now. What finally stopped it? This seems pretty strange.

Damn strange. Even had two guys from American Marine look at it (granted they weren’t service techs).

Had to pull spark plug wire

Me neither. About 50 years of fishing and it’s usually the other way around, can’t get them to start sometimes.

I’d guess that you have a harness issue that vibrated loose. Check the connections to the key switch and the end that goes to the engine. You’re looking for obvious loose connections and/or pins in the connectors that are not firmly seated in the plug. I imagine you used the key to start it? Or is it a pull start engine? Take it to an Evinrude service shop or your dealer for warranty work as any other service center does not have the diagnostics or the factory support that an Evinrude service center does.

sounds like the ground wire to the off switch is not connected
