What’s the species?
Open water Lake Superior lake trout on a jig rod. 40# plus.
I’d go with a smile on my face… and a really sore set of forearms.
For me it would be a 200# Halibut from Alaska. Caught ’em up to 95#, but nothing HUGE. Talk about aching forearms! Then I’ll go.

Stick to the rules.
If this game of speculation and make believe is open to saltwater species I’m changing my answer.

52″+ Pike out of a canoe in the BWCA would just about do it for me.
Sign me up…I’d be the net man on that gig any day.

I’ll go with thru the ice. You can’t beat the chase that leads up to the fight.

It’s not.
Freshwater only. In fact it should have been limited to United States waters.
Peacock bass fishing…….if it has to be in the US then Florida.
Changed answer per the rules…..

I’m still good. That 40# jig laker would likely come from Stannard Rock located in Michigan waters.
Because I haven’t gone yet Lake Trout Fishing but I just got boat rigged up and going to do it this year!
My Choice is
Walleye
Hard to choose between flathead and sturgeon. I would have to go with a 100+ lb flathead CPR from pool 2 of the sippi, would make me a very happy camper.
Tight Lines!
Big ol Muskie! Caught on a top water bait, complete with video documentation.
I want something that would inspire my 3 year old grandson to take up the sport, if I go before I can instill that urge in him.

Brook Trout.
Lucky for you a trip to the Nipigon is easily within reason and it will take care of your PB. Plus you can continue to fish afterwards.

Mine would be one of those 12′ Columbia river giant sturgeon.
I’m not saying I’m changing my answer but this at least gave me pause to reconsider it. Those sturgeon are something else.
No fishing for this guy, rather they would be fishing for me. Upon hearing I would jump off the nearest bridge, its that serious
