Pro xs is better in my opinion, have buddies with each of them. Love the sound of the xs too! make sure it has updated fuel lines and u should be solid. There was a time period with mercury fuel lines (hoses) that were shrinking down on themselves with the inner bladder. Wish I was shopping for a 225!!!!!! Congrats!!!

Go with the Pro XS . I had a opti it was Junk. Thankfully Mercury has awesome customer service and a even better warranty department and they stood be hind it.

My Pro XS has been fantastic

Can your dealer put the motor on the computer and tell you how it has been run ?

My OptiMax left me stranded, and crippled several times….just saying. I will give shout out to Mercury for standing behind their product though.

That is really not that many hours for a 2006. I have a 2012 225 Pro-Xs and like it. The early 2000 model opti’s in the 200-225 horsepower range had some issues with bad fuel rails. I think they have rectified that problem for the most part. I don’t really see a lot of Pro-Xs being worked on in the shop when I am their.
