January 27, 2013 at 12:44 am #1135036What a sad day…I saw him out on the lake every time I was up to Madeline this summer.
I always thought to myself “now there’s a guy who is doing what he loves”
He will be missed.
January 27, 2013 at 3:06 am #1135084I never knew him, but I knew of him. I am deeply saddened. The sadness is even greater for his wife and family.
This also terrifies me. A man so close to my age falls victim to something he knew so well. Recently married myself, I’ve been really thinking about some of the safety precautions I should be taking on the ice and the water. This will certainly make a huge impression on my future decisions.
Rest in peace Jim.

January 27, 2013 at 10:41 pm #1135288I met him and talked with him many time via e-mail and was such a good man and nice–told me if ever need to know anything or need info call or e-mail him any time—for a fishing guide and a former police officer and to make time to talk and give out info so freely and all–plus a memeber of sportsman club in Bayfeild–I watched him on John Gillispies show just Saturday—I was so sad and still am about this news–I seen in paper today and once I seen fishing guide in Bayfeild my heart started to pound and then seeing it was Jim—-he will be truly missed!!! Least he was doing something he loved doing—betting he was checking ice conditions for cleints when this happen—to bad someone wasnt there sooner!! My thoughts and prayers go out!!!!
