My mom and dad are gonna get a direct hit. Dad says they are staying and hes even gonna film it. Hes always been a nut. Looks like it will hit as a Cat 1 or 2 on Wed. They got 70 gallons of gas for the generator and the windows are boarded up. If they lose power its usually for two weeks.

I’m assuming they are near New Orleans? I can understand people not wanting to abandon their homes. I also remember the pictures from Katrina, those tropical storms are nothing to mess with. Tell them to keep their heads down and stay safe.

25 miles north of New Orleans. Most people stay with loaded guns to discourage looting.

I watched a show on Katrina yesterday. One comment from a 40 something year old survivor I won’t forget….

“I’ll never stay in a hurricane again”.

Don’t forget to have him get some cash before the ATM’s are empty or the power goes out.

x2. If there’s ever a hurricane in Iowa, I’ll be ready.

It has been upgraded to a Cat 2 when it hits land.

I hope they remain safe! It opened my eyes to how low that entire area is when I drove from BR to New Orleans.

I’ve been watching it since i flew into Alabama yesterday evening. Not that i have much to worry about being in the northern part of Alabama but it looks like it’s staying west anyways.

I’ve been hearing that. Wouldn’t mind running across a southern girl for the next few weeks.
