I bet a buddy of mine $50 that he couldn’t catch a 40 inch Pike in the metro in the next 12 months. The counties allowed are: Dakota, Washington, Carver, and Ramsey.

Who do you think will win this bet?

Is this any Pike ? Such as the largest.. the Muskie if it is, and he knows what he is doing, you should be paying this summer

Your going to be paying your buddy I got 5 last summer from 40-42″ on 2 metro lakes it’s a bit of a dissapointment when you set the hook thinking it’s a ski and it’s a pike

Been there, done that. Do I get any money??

You better stash that $50 somewhere that you don’t spend it.

I wouldn’t bet on it! There is a little fished river in Dakota county that yeilded a “few” 40′ plus Northerns a month or so ago.

Hey Chappy, doesn’t the Vermilion give up a few 10+ pounders each year in the spring?

40 inch fish don’t come easy no doubt. Not even on northern lakes. Depending how good your buddy is and how often he fishes, I like your odds.

there is a decent chance on a lake that is right off 694 that has yeilded 20 to 25 that size over the last 3 or 4 years that I know of. might be time to pay up if he figures that out.

As long as we don’t show him a spot to do it, he’s screwed…

If it has to be a true 40″ (yeah, how many 39’s are reported 40’s ) I think his $$ is safe.

I have seen the fish on the full measure, unless he bunch a few inches on the tape. and they were all released back safely. not much sttention to that lake as to many recreational’s there for most fisherman. he was a early weekday fishing type trips in the fall. so they are safe for a while.

and who knows what you use as a measuring stick there BIG G

Many places on the river in the metro I think a 40″ pike would be doable to. Do think I would be sticking that money in your pocket yet.

I know of a resort manager that was keeping a 23 pounder in his bait tank earlier this year. I forget the lenght. ‘Course that’s in Pierce Co.

It’s in his freezer now if you would like to take a look at it.

He might get one, but I like your side of the bet better.
