i harvested my first turkey this morning! he was 23 lbs and had about a 10″ beard and 1 inch spurs. we could here him at sunrise in his roost about 6 or 7 hundred yards away and eventually watched him work his way across the field and into the pasture i was hunting. i had a small window to take him through in the brush and i crushed him. i want to thank Lee and brad swanson for helping me harvest my first bird!!

i killed the bird at 6:30 after he strutted all the way in, it was windy and cool out. Lee called minimally until he hit the pasture then we just let him come, we were set up in a travel zone he was moving by working his way towards a pond. i was shooting a mossberg 12 gauge using a 3″ 5 winchester round.

Very nice bird. It has been a hard year for turkey hunting with the monsoons and blizzards. Glad you were able to harvest one.
