The lake has a few drifts and about two inches of snow cover that may be melted with the warmer weather again. There are a few nasty ice heaves on the lake, do not try to cross them as one day they are froze and the next day they open up. Make sure to ask the resort owners how or where to cross the heaves.
The fishing remains pretty good. The last few days the best bite has been on the South end of the lake on the break out from the Birdhouses. the perch still seem to be hanging in the 32-35 feet. Stay mobil as much as you can or until you find the action your after. You might want to bring an extension as well. Reports of upto 40 inches of ice are being found. Good luck and maybe will see you up there. I’m off to red lake tomorrow, the first trip of the year.
