Fished Mille Lacs on 8-10

Had a chance to get out on the big pond with my son on 8/10. Noticed when we arrived that many of the vehicles were partially covered in mayflies. It was windy in the morning and later in the afternoon. Were finally able to make it to the flats around 9:15 a.m. and at about 10:00 we boated a healthy 27″ eye. Grafted a lot of fish, had one other bite, but nothing else in the boat. Did notice that the water still have a fair amount of algae floating in it. Going back next week for another shot. Any input would be appreciated.

When I have been marking but not catching fish rigging long snells on the flats this year I have switched to bobbers and almost always managed 3-4 fish and then move on.

Marked lots of fish at the 20′ level but could not get them to react. Clouds of baitfish in the 10 to 20 foot range. Thanks for the input!
