It’s always a mystery…why when fishing is so awesome, that no one is on the water fishing? The fall bite here in the Leech Lake Area for walleyes, muskies and perch has been awesome. Over the last few days anglers have been catching numbers of 14-18” walleyes and for a lucky few some 26-28” fish as well. For walleyes most anglers working the deep drop adjacent to Cedar Point. 25-40 ft depths holding an incredible number of fish. However, walleyes are also being taken on many humps in Walker Bay and some main lake points on the big lake. Jig and minnow combinations working best in all areas of Leech Lake. Muskie anglers are hooking up two ways. Some anglers have been casting the shallow rock piles of the Pelican Island area along with Submarine and Kabekona Bay, while others are having success trolling adjacent to these areas. Most anglers having success with jerkbaits and glidebaits casting while trolling has been best with Jakes and Believers. Perch anglers are also catching fish in Portage Bay near 5 mile point and in Boy Bay 6-11 ft of water 1/16 and 1/8 oz jigs tipped with a small fathead or crawler part under a float bringing up the jumbo’s.

If you like to catch fish….you best go fishing NOW!
