This last week was great fishing on the Rock. My friend Jim and I fished about 12 hours over 2 days and caught over 200 white bass & wipers, and 10 or so nice channel cats. Very few of the whites were under 12 inches. Many 14in, a load of 16in, and quite a few 17 to 17 1/2in with the best being a very nice 27 1/4in. 10lb 7oz wiper caught by my friend Jim. Most of these fish were tsken in 18 to 25 ft of water. Deep running crank baits trolled worked best the first day. The second day trolling worked well, but slab spooning in 20 ft of water worked the best. Very impressed with the overall size of whites taken last week.

Welcome to the site Danyer, thats some nice numbers and nice sized fish. I haven’t gotten into a nice sized school for a few years now, it would be nice to get back into them again like that.

a 27 inch wiper usually will weigh around 10lbs., but just like any other fish it will depend on time of year, and forage. Jim’s 27 1/4 incher was a real nice chunky fish and weight was 10lb 7oz.

Yea I’ve been hearing the bite has been good down there. If i hadn’t already had a freezer full I’d be back. Did you get into any of those big ole crappies?
