Yesterday morning I was out with my son dragging some cranks in pool 14. The bite was slow. I set my rod down, so I could use the pee bucket. Well things went a little nuts at this time. All of a sudden my rod and reel are in the water. I yelled at my son to grab it. He was not sure what I wanted him to grab, then he noticed the rod in the water. It was a great catch, he was able to grab the handle of the rod at the rear of the boat. I thought I had kicked the rod overboard, getting the pee bucket. Well I reeled in and landed a 13 inch walleye. Tough hit for a short eye to launch my rod into the river. We had a good laugh and the eye was released unharmed. Sure glad I could blame the fish for trying to steal my rod and reel!

Funny, I always get a little uneasy when I set my rod down for any period of time knowing it only takes a second and bam! She’s gone.
